These brass statues were created separately. The dog (named Fikkie) is a tribute and mascot for local students. The turd was added later by the city's sanitation department, to create awareness about litter.

Interesting combination of brass. All looks so real there on the sidewalk. Step carefully while scratching the dog's head. My comment to the Sanitation Department is that maybe a wad of paper, a candy bar wrapper or a homeless person's debris might be more appropriate for a public sidewalk.
