About the Image(s)

These are the steps from the main body of the cathedral up to the Chapter house at Wells Cathedral. They were made famous in a black and white image by Frederick Evans 1853 - 1943 and who was famous for his images of English and French cathedrals. WE called at Wells breaking the journey when returning from a holiday in Devon, and I took several stereo images of the cathedral two which have been very successful.

Very interesting image. Makes me want to start climbing up those stairs, go right trough the doorway and see what it is like up there. The brighter area behind the doorway draws one's attention to that point. I can't help wonder what is up the stairs on the right behind the little wood fence. Great image!   Posted: 12/06/2021 13:52:56

The steps go up to the Chapter house on the right and straight on to private rooms for the clerics   Posted: 12/09/2021 15:54:16

Great depth and unusual sight lines. Good job on the difficult exposure.   Posted: 12/16/2021 16:19:26

Excellent stereo image. I liked the composition. The image has nice depth and the bright doorway becomes the centre of attraction. I think the window can be pulled to front a little bit as the right side almost merges with the window. May be a little shadows adjustment can further improve the image by giving more details in walls and windows.   Posted: 12/23/2021 08:54:51

Great stereo image and intriguing place. The stairs take you to all corners and sides of the pictures. The doorways and lighting create areas of interest. Nice exposure too.
