About the Image(s)

I'm not sure what this flower is, but I like its 3-dimensionality. I took this shot with a Panasonic Lumix GX7 macro camera with a 3-D lens manipulated by George Themelis. I use frame sides for phantograms processing, and then did some masking for a thru-the-window effect.

Barry, I think this is a very nice phantogram with the flower protruding in front of the window. The white framing around the image makes it stand out nicely. Well done...   Posted: 09/10/2021 15:16:58

I alwayse like phantograms. I like them best, anaglyph, printed and setting on a flat surface to pop up as something real. Even though Nick said he liked the white framing, my first opinion was the whole image was way too bright and a little darker frame would have brought my attention to the flowers better.   Posted: 09/20/2021 14:45:19

one of the things i like about this type of phantogram is that as well as rising out of the page, the backdrop sinks nicely below.

the colors of the flower are very challenging for anaglyph, lots of retinal rivalry.   Posted: 09/20/2021 16:25:33

The first real phantogram I ever saw was of a sea shell and the photographer had the actual sea shell setting right next to it. Both images were exactly the same size and color. When looking at them at 45 degrees, the only way I could tell the phantogram from the actual shell was to move my head and I could see around the real shell, but the phantogram would appear to change perspective a little as there was just one image. As I look at this image, to me, it's more of a good use of putting the frame half way up the flower and having the flower obscure the frame where it is over the frame. Not that much of a "Phantom Image" or "Phantogram". But I guess that's just my opinion.   Posted: 09/21/2021 12:50:41

Likely it was the first phantogram I saw as well, by Steve Hughes, who conducted a phantogram workshop at the 2004 NSA convention. One fun thing about phants is that you can add real objects with the images and they can blend in seamlessly, or else set them side by side as you describe.   Posted: 09/21/2021 12:54:46

I like this and I do find it unusual as the "fashion" in the UK is for everything to be behind the window but this works so well for this image. A black frame would have made it stand out even more   Posted: 09/21/2021 13:54:37

Another nice Phantogram. I liked your through the window effect. To me, the image needs a little more sharpness. The details of the stamen and pistil need to be brought out. May be some correction in photoshop will do. Tried a quick correction in photoshop was done and the resulting image is given below.   Posted: 09/24/2021 14:58:17
