About the Image(s)
This is from a recent trip to Vietnam. I liked the placement of the bicycles, and the tree reflections along the river. I cropped out the street to the right, thoughts on that? I increased the contrast on the river a lot to bring out some black. Should I take it further?

Both the original and the cropped version have good compositions and are telling a story about the place. I like the bikes in the foreground. Yes, the picture is a bit flat and can get a little pop.

Hi Jack
I too like the bikes in the foreground and am happy the composition. Also, I don't mind the soft nature of the image which suits the picture. I wouldn't change a thing.   Posted: 05/05/2023 00:18:10

Hi Jack,
You know me...needs a little 'bump' in the contrast and the blacks, but I stayed with a bit of toning. The bikes are way too close to the borders for my taste...respecting why you did it to eliminate the curbing. I've added some 'bottom' and allowed in a tad of the curb/road on the right. Also straightened this as the horizon line was tilting a bit. This tells a wonderful story. See if you like my rendition.   Posted: 05/05/2023 18:04:53

Thanks Gary for picking up on those little things, the horizon, and of course the bikes are too close to the border, missed that! As for contrast I still think I'd lean towards softer on this one but I appreciate your edit!   Posted: 05/08/2023 06:47:05
Hi Jack,
It's a very simple capture with a powerful foreground. I really do like the toning. It feels a little tight around the bikes. You seemed to have managed to add to the canvas at the bottom, but I think you could leave in more of the street on the right. I would have cloned out the bothersome people near the top to allow for the space, even though I know tht is not your thing.

Thanks Melanie, yes I think I will redo the crop to allow more room on the right.   Posted: 05/08/2023 06:48:10

Thanks for visiting out group Debashish. Based on yours and the others comments I was going to try a crop just like yours, I like it!   Posted: 05/08/2023 06:50:12
Jack,
Bicycles are one of my favorite subjects when traveling. I'm always looking for images where they can be a main focus point. I love this image, but I think I agree that your crop is a bit too much aggressive and crowds the bikes on the right.   Posted: 05/07/2023 15:28:05

Thanks Henry, for some reason while others were shooting people, I was gravitating towards bicycles! I agree with you on that.   Posted: 05/08/2023 06:51:41
Jack, bicycles, 2 bicycles near a placid canal is a story, not just another IR image. Both elicit feelings of peace and do so quietly. While I agree that the crop was necessary, it may have been too tight.
Thanks for sharing. It is an image that invites you to linger on it.   Posted: 05/08/2023 21:02:46

Jack
I agree with the feedback that precedes me so you have some good input to consider from our great talent pool.
Going with Gary's rendition at the moment.
