About the Image(s)
This is an image of a waterfall I took the summer of 2021 in Iceland. There are many waterfalls in Iceland, some, like the present one, are privately owned. I cropped it to emphasize the waterfall and delete the attention diverting pieces of the sky. After converting to black & white, using selection tools, I created a layer to work only on the waterfall itself, to brighten it and shift it closer to white. Again, with selection tools, I darkened and soften the shadow areas around the waterfall. I debated adding a
bit more sky but settled on a thin slice, perhaps too thin? Camera data: Nikon D7000, f/20, 1/125,
35mm, ISO=160.

Beautifully composed and captured in IR. I like the lead-in line, taking the eye up to the falls. The hint of vignette also helps.
Can't add any more other than to give top marks!   Posted: 05/05/2023 05:52:24
Your choice of minimal skies is a good one in my view. I like the overall 'feel' of this scene, and of course the leading line of the stream is a plus for composition. My only thought is that there is a lot of mid-ground of white/IR before you get to the falls themselves, so I wonder if there were other compositions/angles/views? What about a lower camera angle?   Posted: 05/05/2023 18:08:03
I think you have positioned yourself well to capture the scene. The stream lead in takes us to the waterfall. Even though the falls are a small part of the picture, the scenic aspect is strong. Processing well handled.   Posted: 05/07/2023 11:33:02
Nicely composed. I like the amount of sky you included and I love the way the creek leads into the waterfall. I do find the overall image to be a bit too dark for my taste so I went in and did some selective lightening plus a slight vignette. What do you think?   Posted: 05/07/2023 15:43:10
I am with Henry, I am thinking just a little editing of the grassy areas on each side of the stream will help a lot.
I added a levels layer in PS to bring up the tone of the grass and then in LR I added a fairly large radial gradient in the center of the frame, inverted int and reduced the exposure some.
