About the Image(s)

We ended our recent trip with a few days in Prague, a city we visited years ago and wanted to see again. I liked this view toward Old Town across the Vltava River. I converted it to black and white in Lightroom
Classic using the B&W Green profile, then made some exposure
adjustments. I also cropped in a bit to minimize the wall in the foreground. I then took it into Photoshop and removed the little bit of wall remaining as well as the boaters. I did a bit of high pass sharpening and added a slight vignette.
Sony A6500. Full spectrum conversion with a 72nm filter. Sony 16-70 f/4
lens. ISO 100, 69mm, f/4, 1/200 second. Shot handheld.

Hi Henry
Your post-processing is spot on as is the composition. Love the glow in trees. An image almost identical to the one submitted by Gary last month! We photographers think alike. Don't we!!   Posted: 06/02/2022 22:07:10

A beautiful scene so perfectly rendered, Henry. It has the look and feel of a straight black and white, except for the trees of course. An extremely pleasing composition with somber mood, no recommendations for improvement.   Posted: 06/03/2022 20:08:43

Hi Henry
I fell in love with the image as soon as I opened it. What pleases me most is the atmospheric mood, the composition and its delicate quality. "JUST BRILLIANT"!!   Posted: 06/03/2022 22:17:02

Hi Henry. What a great scene for IR. The clouds and the trees in the foreground add so much to the beautiful architecture. Nicely seen, captured, and processed.   Posted: 06/06/2022 15:16:31

Henry, a simply lovely shot. The image was made so much better by eliminating the wall and boaters. Putting the trees in the foreground created a more interesting composition, avoiding too much emphasis on buildings, which is very easy to do in a city like Prague.   Posted: 06/06/2022 15:24:57

Hi Henry,
I loved it as it opened! Classic. See if you might like the adj version I did as well or better. I increased contrast and darkened the corners, plus added Detail Extractor. It could very well not be the mood and intent you were seeking?   Posted: 06/08/2022 08:27:44

Thanks, Gary. I agree it could use a bit more contrast, maybe not as much as your version, but I like where you're going here.   Posted: 06/08/2022 11:05:45

Hi Henry, When I first saw this, it just said romance to me. It is a beautiful composition and I know exactly where it was taken. Your image is just so clean as well as being delicate. I love it.   Posted: 06/08/2022 09:21:50

Henry

You did the great city of Prague justice with your composition.

My take on your shot was to darken the sky just a bit using the select sky filter in LR Classic and I set the black and white points using the Develop module sliders. Nothing drastic Food for thought anyway

Regards
