About the Image(s)

This is an image taken during the worst of the pandemic when it was deemed unhealthy to be social. It was captured on one of my many solitary walks along the Allegany River. While the original was attractive without much modification, with this submission I reintroduced color by channel switching, adjusting white balance and using the color sliders in the Camera Raw filter to render the soft blues and brighter whites. I deleted a sign and used Topaz to reduce noise. Camera data: Nikon D7000 (590nm), f/11, 1/250, 35mm, ISO=500

Hi Charles. Nice composition with the trees in the foreground framing the scene, the bench off center, and the trees in the background. The color processing is good too. I would probably clone out the small sections of the structures, but still very nicely done as presented.   Posted: 05/01/2022 06:13:33

Arik, after sending the image, when it was too late, I had the same reaction to the structures (blue barn & shed). They are distracting, not much, but . . .   Posted: 05/03/2022 11:37:30

Charles - There's something about an empty park bench that really speaks to me for some reason. I've taken hundreds (thousands?) of images of them over the years. This is really nicely done. I like where you placed the bench in the composition and I really like your subtle color processing. No suggestions.   Posted: 05/01/2022 10:15:16

As Henry points out, Charles, the eye goes right to the bench. There's such a nice sense of mood to this, tranquility, and love the reflections. I might be tempted to punch up the tree trunks a little (more contrast, blacks) but then you might lose that nice mood. I enjoy looking at the original on images like this - this one makes a nice companion image, the sunset version ;)   Posted: 05/02/2022 11:06:34

Hello Charles...I added a dash of contrast to the whole scene, see what you think. This is beautiful, and the bench/blue/mood are impressive. Well done.   Posted: 05/03/2022 09:59:14

Gary, I like the way the increased contrast moves the eye more to the middle of the composition. Yes, like it!   Posted: 05/03/2022 11:35:36

Hi Chuck, A lovey scene indeed. There really is something about an empty bench and this one has such a tranquil and peaceful view. The blue tones are very inviting. I would love to see the central trees with a dash more brightness making them whiter. Well done!   Posted: 05/08/2022 15:48:26

Charles

I resonate with your narrative about the fear, loneliness and isolation we all felt for months on end during COVID. Your image brings to me tranquility and peacefulness we all sought back then.

I think it is well done and has emotional ties for me.

I apologize for my late comments
