About the Image(s)

Another from the famous ghost town, in this one I managed to find and use some greenery in the composition, with the idea of leading the eye down the street. Does the perspective and crop work for you? To me, I can feel the midday light in this one, and it feels a little harsh.

Both the capture and detail in this shot is admirable ... and so as the composition. I wonder if you'd consider flipping the image which may look even stronger compositionally!
I couldn't help doing this though!!!   Posted: 10/01/2021 23:33:39

Thanks, Palli. I'm not sure why, but I do think I like your flip better!. I look forward to hearing others' take on this.   Posted: 10/03/2021 12:02:07

Hi Jack, The harshness that you see is in keeping with the subject. You are showing us wonderful textures and detail. All those horizontal lines keep my eye going through the picture. As for the flip, I would not have thought of it, but it certainly works ( Good eye Palli )The tones add to the images. Good job!   Posted: 10/03/2021 17:41:25

Hi Jack,

You went with 'bold' and 'contrast' on this one...I like it! Indeed the textures, the blacks and the whites are impressive. With the bulk of the image on the right, I personally think the image 'reads' better flipped as Palli has suggested.   Posted: 10/03/2021 18:42:50

Thanks Gary was thinking of you when darkening and re-darkening the sky ;)   Posted: 10/03/2021 20:22:16

Great find and beautiful work with the scene. I'm okay with both the original and the flipped version. In the first half of my life I was reading from right to left. Now, from left to right, so the flow works for me either way.   Posted: 10/03/2021 21:07:30

Jack, the harsh light is not that much of an issue, to the contrary, it allowed you to capture details and emphasize leading lines. I like what you did to darken the sky, which in turn, created better contrast with the scene. Either the flipped or original are fine images IMHO.   Posted: 10/10/2021 21:36:17
