About the Image(s)

I'm returning this month to a traditional subject for me...old barns sprinkled across Indiana. I reached this one just after first light, so there is mottled side lighting striking the foreground and the barn. Coupled with the cumulus clouds peeking through the trees, I thought the mood of this one was something a bit unique. See how it strikes you when you critique it.

Hi Gary,
What a great find and beautiful picture. Your post work was perfect. It was a good decision to keep the front of the barn dark and let the foliage on it stand out. Also, having one side darker than the other creates a sense of dimension and depth. I wouldn't change anything. Nicely done.

Hi Gary
From my perspective, this is a terrific image and should do well in exhibitions. It has everything going for it. Perhaps one for the wall too!!   Posted: 05/07/2021 02:17:46

The mostly leafless trees make this a little different from most IR images, Gary, but its subtlety still works very well. I particularly like the partially veiled clouds behind the trees, and the overall mood.   Posted: 05/07/2021 17:37:58

Thank you Jack. Serendipity is everything with the light!   Posted: 05/08/2021 06:39:26

Gary

Love our Midwest barns as well, great subject matter in IR. Hopefully this old beauty is around a little longer.

The dappled lighting is perfect as are the clouds in the background. It tells it was a great day to be out shooting in rural Ind for you.

Well done Sir

Hey Gary, Yet another barn that I would love to photograph. I think we should plan a group outing to your barns!
I enjoy the grungy effect shown and you have manage to make the structure stand out from the very busy foliage. Just a thought - Would you consider lightening the grasses closest to the build even more?   Posted: 05/09/2021 10:05:29
