About the Image(s)

Falling Water ??“ Smoky Mountain NP Where I am not sure unfortunately
Workflow: This image was processed when I returned from the Smokies. Today I looked at it said it needs an update, I guess my eyes are better? After rendering the image in BW using NIK Silver Efex, I followed my standard procedure of
using the LR masking tools to dodge and burn the image.

Camera: 590nm Canon 5D, 24-105mm Canon f4 lens at 64mm, 1/10 sec at f16,

Hi Emil,

When we all visit and photograph in the Smokies, my fellow photo friends refer to our many "rocks and water" images! The area is replete with them, and they are so beautiful and tranquil. I like your version, especially your post processing. Here's a slightly different view, done in panoramic style as I didn't feel the large rock lower lh side was adding much to the composition.   Posted: 10/02/2024 15:22:48

Emil,
I'm a sucker for a good waterfall shot, especially one taken in the Smokies! The IR, combined with your monochromatic processing, really brings out the textures of this scene. I can almost feel the spray! I like it as is!   Posted: 10/02/2024 21:03:05

As Gary alludes to, Emil, the interest here is the waterfall, which you've rendered so well. So I think Gary's crop, and treatment, makes this even better. I really like the texture in the waterfall.   Posted: 10/02/2024 21:52:16

I very much like the scene and composition. I like the color separation in the original. Gary's reworked version took advantage of the separation and gave the image more impact.

Hi Emil, You have made me want to go back and revisit my Smoky images. I do remember the fun I had the with water and rocks too.
You have done a beautiful job. I love the look of the waterfall and the water. Even though it gives balance, I think I like it better without the foreground rock.(Just read the other comments, so align with the group).   Posted: 10/11/2024 17:49:11
