About the Image(s)

I am very happy to have been invited to be part of this group that
mixes the beauty of flowers with the art of photography, my goal is
to create or recreate this beauty trough my photos. I hope you enjoy
my images as I will surely enjoy yours.
This image is from A Callistemon common name Bottlebrush. An
Australian native shrub that now you can enjoy also in your gardens.
Native birds have also enjoyed this flower and it is an important
source of food for them.
I shot it in an overcast day against the sky, I overexposed it as the
background didn’t add any interest and with the idea in my mind of a
final high key look
I cropped a little and I paint with white some of the lower leaves to
clean the area. A bit of enhancement of colour and a frame was
applied also.‚Äč

Hi Maria, Lovely, lovely image. Looks perfect for a holiday card. The hi-key treatment enhances the bottlebrush beautifully. Your crop simplified the image. The leaves make a great "nest" in which the bloom sits. You made me think of my old home - South Africa where these shrubs are abundant. I do remember enjoying photographing them. Great job!   Posted: 08/02/2022 13:09:14

I agree with Melanie - the bottlebrush is nicely enhanced. The angle of the plant makes for a good composition and the frame is an added compliment. Good job.   Posted: 08/02/2022 15:28:26

Hi Maria and welcome to the group. You are starting off a great image of this bottle brush. I mentioned in the previous section that I spend winters in Arizona and the bottle brush is a very common blossom. I have never seen one in this configuration, however. Usually they are in a bush with several flowers throughout. I ditto the comments on your composition - - very well done in the angular fashion. This one's a keeper! Great work.   Posted: 08/03/2022 14:56:42

My eye likes to see the contrast of the high key background and the colors of the image. The treatment you applied works well with the flower.   Posted: 08/07/2022 19:12:14
