About the Image(s)

This image was taken while in my kayak paddling in a swamp like lake. Lake Martin is in South Louisiana. I used my Nikon D500 and my 200-500 lens, and was hand holding it. My ISO was 400, 500mm, f/5.6,1/5000 ss. I started my editing in LR and did some basic edits there, as I shoot in RAW. I adjusted the exposure up, contrast ,and shadows too. I brought down my whites, blacks, and highlights too. I increased my texture and vibrance. I opened it in PS did a few curves adjustments using masking to enhance the glow like that appeared at the base of the flower. I also added a texture to the image.

Hi Julie, What a win to be at eye level when shooting a waterlily. You have given this a dreamy quality with softening which is very pleasing. The background texture work very well.   Posted: 08/02/2022 13:00:17

I agree with Melanie the background and dreamy quality make this a nice image. To be picky, I would use the healing brush or clone tool to remove some of the artifacts in the background and also the brown spots at the base of the flower.
Just an FYI - if you enter in competitions, your name would not be permitted on the image. I put mine on a separate layer so I can add it or remove it at will.   Posted: 08/02/2022 15:25:43

Thank you for your comments, I did not notice the artifacts or the dark spots on the stem. I will rework it and make corrections. I do enter competitions and do not keep my watermark on my images for it. Thank you for your comments.   Posted: 08/07/2022 19:09:44

Hello Julie and welcome. I think this is going to be a fun group with a great subject matter to work with. I really enjoyed seeing the way you treated this Lily. The soft flowing background and the illumination in the center of the blossom is very attractive. I do agree with Marti that there is a little bit of cleanup on the bottom of the flower and a few spots in the background. Otherwise this is extremely well done and the very pleasant image to look at.   Posted: 08/03/2022 14:51:13
