About the Image(s)

I shot this image in a zoo. I like the play of shadows across her head and shoulders. In post: I sharpened with Topaz AI; lowered the brightness and contrast of her eye; and some spot touchups. As usual I would appreciate any comments

Very nice image Peter. I like the extreme sharpness in the total image. The eye grabs you and the beak shows you the power and strength of the bird.

The only couple of nits I have is that the shadow on the top of the head is a little distracting. I don't think it can be removed in post processing but maybe lighten it up a little. The other nit is that it would have been so much better if the highlight was on the black pupil of the eye instead of 1/16" away. I've tried to shoot birds and animals and that is not easy to do but when it happens it really makes the picture.   Posted: 07/28/2021 21:03:36

Thanks for your comment. I completely agree from a pictorial POV. But in nature you have to take what you can get, and I'm not certain whether nature division rules permit the proposed adjustments.   Posted: 07/28/2021 22:02:59

Nice portrait image of the birds head. The exposure is fine and the image is as sharp as it needs to be. Here you handled the mottled light well. The only comment I have here is that to my eye, it's cropped in a bit too much. Giving the bird's head a bit more space might enhance the portrait.

Charles, Thanks for pointing that out. I should have left more negative space on top and on the right.   Posted: 07/29/2021 20:16:42
