Inside an Orchid by Peter Newman

June 2021 - Inside an Orchid

About the Image(s)

I shot this orchid at Longwood Gardens on a rainy day. In post I cropped the image, applied Topaz DeNoise, Sharpened the image and did a mild color enhancement. This was shot with a Nikon D800 body with a Nikon micro 105 with a 1.4 teleconverter with strobe @ f/13.

I hope you enjoy it.

This is an interesting image to me for a few reasons. Your composition is nicely done with your subject off center a bit. Colors are bright and using the orchid as the background makes a great contract. If I were to be picky I would remove the little hairs on the left, but that's minor. At first glance it reminded me of lava. Nice job.   Posted: 06/18/2021 12:27:08

Orchids are such great photographic material! Soemtimes these close up views remind me of a human tongue, with uvula (that dangling thing at the back of the throat) hanging behind it. Very good!   Posted: 06/18/2021 14:40:55
