About the Image(s)
I enjoyed this look on my female dog's face. She's not very camera friendly so I was happy to get the image. Taken in the morning with the sunshine on her face in one of the rare moments where the male dogs aren't annoying her. This was before breakfast so I think I'm getting the "can we please eat" look.
Taken with the 105mm Nikon macro lens, ISO 800, f4.5 hand held.

Hi Lynne, It's difficult to look at this image and not say "Aw." She does look like a good girl. I like how you cropped this image. Her ears and much of her forehead are not included, but they aren't needed. The eyes say it all. I also like that you posted this in black and white. It lets one focus on the eyes and the story behind the image.

I really like this image. You have captured this face with quite a bit of personality. To my mind though its time to ramp this up a bit to the next level. Here I would work to bring out more of the fir texture, and to bring out more of the shape of the face. As presented it's a bit plain (not soft but plain), and since the furry faces is the main player I would strive to add a bit more physical character to the face.
I have included a version of this image with these modifications to illustrate my thoughts better. See what you think.
Taking images of our pets is difficult. We see the image through the eyes of the owner and housemate, and generally read more into the image that what visually it imparts. perhaps that occurred here, but not feel alone. We all suffer from that.

I agree with you. When I worked to increase the texture of her fur, I liked the look. But then doubt rolled in, and thought it might be too much.   Posted: 05/10/2021 18:05:31

I understand, and often experience the same doubt. One of our editing challenges is to strike the right balance.   Posted: 05/13/2021 13:19:56
Well done. The eyes, and nostrils all capture my attention and form a nice visual set of visual areas of interest. Works very well in BW for bringing out the dog's character   Posted: 05/24/2021 07:57:50
