Flowering Kale by Dick States

October 2024 - Flowering Kale

About the Image(s)

I had these Flowering Kale growing in my landscape. It rained during the night, the reason for the rain drops. I was amazed at all the different interesting patterns the leaves formed. This one caught my eye.
This is a stack of 10 images. Taken at-f8, 1/10 sec. ISO 200. I was using my 105-macro lens with a polarizer on the lens.

Great shot! I like the sharpness throughout the image. The rain drops really make the image with all their different sizes. The composition is also well-thought out. Did you desaturate the green leaves of the kale?   Posted: 10/03/2024 21:54:54

Thank you, David. I did not desaturate this, it's the true colors of that plant. Kale can vary much in color this one had this silver look with some color in the veins. I usually never mess with the color of any of my images.   Posted: 10/03/2024 22:52:08

Love it! You captured the the lines, curves, shapes, texture, and color of the kale perfectly. Tack sharp throughout. Nice DOF. The raindrops create impact. Great job, Dick.   Posted: 10/10/2024 20:23:41

Hi Dick, apologies for my delay in commenting this month. I'm currently in the process of moving back to Spain after twelve years in Australia, so there hasn't been much time to sit and enjoy this month's images.

I really like how you've captured the dew on this vegetable leaf. The amount of detail and the tight framing create a very appealing image.
