Beautiful! Good detail, contrast and composition except that it needs straightening for my eye.   Posted: 10/05/2021 17:46:22

This is an excellent black and white treatment of the subject in my opinion. The scale of the Big Boy is impressive and the amount of steam is just right. Whether intentional or not, the smoke plume merges in an interesting and odd way with a streak of darkened sky between two clouds. This created a puzzle for me trying to figure out where the smoke ended an the darkened sky began. This merger of the smoke and sky creates the illusion of a rapid change in direction of the smoke plume. Or is it an illusion?

The engine was moving so the smoke exhausted up and back.   Posted: 10/10/2021 14:26:23

My husband, a photographer and railroad fan, recognized Big Boy immediately and liked your image. The high contrast and diagonal positioning add to the sense of the engine's mass and power.   Posted: 10/11/2021 23:30:37
