About the Image(s)

Shortly after sunset in June 2010, I captured this classic view (not my favorite undertaking), but I was in the right place at the right time. in 2016, I made the saturated version in Lightroom and followed it with Topaz Old Western Texture. I just modified it slightly in Lightroom without increasing the detail or sharpness.

This to me was the photo that popped out and grabbed my attention when I viewed the thumbnails of this round.

More closely examined, as it's the first time I've seen it, I think it's fascinating and attractive. This subject seems ideal for it, well chosen!

However, I can't help thinking that this texture is a bit too harsh for regular use, and I'd soon get bored with it if I saw it repeatedly.   Posted: 09/05/2021 01:41:47

Yes you captured a classic rendition of this scene. I think your border selection was most appropriate.   Posted: 09/06/2021 13:05:12

Given that I've been in the hospital again, I'm very glad I worked ahead in order to continue participating. I hope I didn't jinx myself for the rest of 2021.
I always hesitate to capture creative shots, because I most enjoy exploring and finding unique images. Here I still tried to make it a little different by widening the perspective and adding the texture and color. I'd like to clean up the upper right corner a bit.   Posted: 09/06/2021 13:36:22

I like the Topaz texture you chose to give this an Old West vintage look. I also like that you chose the original frame and excluded the foreground so we can focus on the wonderful Monument Valley features. Well done.   Posted: 09/09/2021 11:39:41

Thanks, I may print this a little lighter, on canvas 6'3' or whatever it works out to be.   Posted: 09/09/2021 14:24:18

The grainy weathered treatment is very effective. It gives a classic old west feel to the image, like a tintype.   Posted: 09/09/2021 17:43:44

Exactly, as I now recall it was the tintype filter. I'd still like to brighten it a bit though. The upper right corner especially.   Posted: 09/09/2021 18:35:08

A new rendition of a classical image. The filter, tint and dark vignette all give it an old time-y feel. I also like the breathtaking colors of Original 2. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery. I, too, am glad you worked ahead to share your images with us.   Posted: 09/23/2021 14:24:04

I've made a 6'x3' canvas print of the original for my AZ Room. I think every good image looks best when printed large.   Posted: 09/23/2021 17:56:23
