Tucked away in Shandon, Ohio, rests an incredible classic car museum. The Salty Dog museum features dozens of expertly restored Ford Model A's & T's and eight vintage fire trucks. When my late husband’s client and good friend ran out of room on his spacious Indiana property for all of his acquired antique vehicles that he so lovingly restored, my husband recommended that his friend establish a non-profit museum for all to be able to enjoy his exquisite collection. I arranged a field trip for my photography club to this most interesting museum.

Hi Alane,
Amazing hood ornament. It looks like a piece of jewelry. I appreciate the beauty of antiques. The shapes and lines create interest. The diagonal line created by the ornament leads my eye up to the three jewels on top. I wonder if the background above the first silver horizontal line, behind the top of the hood ornament could be darkened. It may give more focus to the subject. However, it may have been your intent to leave all the details in the frame. Nicely done.   Posted: 10/06/2021 17:17:50

I agree with all the suggestions to darken the background. Thank you.   Posted: 10/29/2021 23:34:24

Hi Alane: You certainly found an interesting subject to photograph, a lot of details to look at. Barbara makes a good point of toning down the bright chrome trim pieces in back of the hood ornament. Good seeing to spot this.   Posted: 10/10/2021 02:12:04

What an unusual subject. The main subject is the engine, prop, and top knot. In order to accentuate this, the background and some of the foreground needs to be darkened. I would suggest selecting the subject, sharpen it and blur and darken the rest. The image could be sharper.   Posted: 10/25/2021 12:25:03

An amazingly different hood ornament. For me it's almost too much to look at. I would agree with Neal's suggestion to select the main subject but make the background a solid black. Keep the jewel part, of course, the diagonal line and it's round base. The ornament itself is so interesting and unusual; it needs to be where the eye rests.   Posted: 10/26/2021 10:19:07
