Very colorful. Does the blur of the back rocks come from the use of Lensbaby? It's difficult to image how big the rocks really are. Nice subject.   Posted: 06/06/2021 18:11:11

I was pretty close to them, and probably at f/8-ish (where that lens is pretty sharp). I should get better at making notes of settings when using manual lenses...

What you see here is DoF blur. I rather like that scale is indeterminate. :-)

The Velvet creates a different sort of effect when open wide, that really isn't blur. More "glow" or soft focus. An since that isn't evident (to me) in this image, I can guess that the aperture was somewhat tight.   Posted: 06/06/2021 19:26:28

Hi Gary: Unique and interesting subject. The pictures I have seen photographed with the Lensbaby all feature very shallow depth of field with just a small area in the picture in sharp focus with a lot of out of focus areas as shown here. To me the out of focus rocks do not add anything to this picture, but everyone has their own vision and that is what makes photography interesting.   Posted: 06/07/2021 00:28:09

Hi Gary,
Colorful and interesting composition. I see can nice texture in the subject rock. I never tried shooting with Lensbaby lenses, but I may try in the future.   Posted: 06/10/2021 08:56:32

Gary, you have very successfully captured many colors of rocks. I would like to see some texture in more of the rocks than just the subject rock.
