About the Image(s)
I lit the flower from both the back and the front. The orange seemed a bit intense, so I decided to use Silver Efx Pro to convert to monochrome.

Bunny, you get better and better. This image is absolutely amazing. I love the monochrome version. Your lighting is outstanding. It makes the petals stand out... almost as though they are fans who are applauding the center of the flower. Truly well done. I'm humbled.

Thanks for your kind words Pete. You are always so encouraging!   Posted: 05/08/2022 13:22:23
Nice flower image Bunny. I like the composition, texture and the combination of lighting. I do think it is a bit soft in the center but perhaps that was intentional via software or your 1/10 sec shutter speed. Definitely better choice than the orange in the color version.   Posted: 05/05/2022 19:29:40
Hi Bob,
Thanks for your insight. No, I didn't intend on the center being soft. It was my lighting set up that called for the slower speed. However, I just completed a short course on exposure and learned that I didn't know as much about exposure as I thought! I am hoping to use that new-found knowledge make a correct exposure that results in the effect I want. We'll see!   Posted: 05/08/2022 13:21:58

Hi Bunny,
I like both versions.
In B / W, the flower glows from the inside, beautiful lines of the petals.
I loved it.
Nicely done!
Sincerely,

Thank you Israel. I like the orange too, but it almost blinds me with so much color. That's why I tried the monochrome. It is more subtle.   Posted: 05/08/2022 13:23:29
It's unanimous, Bunny; this is a fantastic image! Your flower draws my eye into the black and white version. To look at it is very mesmerizing; I can almost sense the flower moving.
I do like the original, but I do agree that orange and red hues are powerful colors. Perhaps lowering the saturation a tiny bit to take the edge off would help.

Thanks LuAnn. I like your suggestions for tone down the color version. I'll try that!   Posted: 05/11/2022 21:36:03
Bunny
The lighting, the outline of the petals, the tone variation are perfect
Print it

Hello Bunny,
I have to say the same thing I said to Emil: I love your b&w treatment, more than the original picture. Nice!
Maybe some touch-ups to clean up the image here and there could help, but, hey, sometimes you may want to show something as it is, so this is a matter of personal choice.
