About the Image(s)

This area could be photographed every day and it would offer a different composition “ maybe summer off to avoid the heat. I liked this composition due to the deadwood in the lower right that anchors the shot.

Workflow: I used PS and Silver Efex Pro and then LR filters plus adjustment brush to get the toning I wanted.

Shot with Sony A7RIII 100-400 mm at 168mm f4.5/5.6 lens, f14, ISO 100, 1/80 sec, and -3/10 EV.

Emil, I love this image. The monochrome version is truly outstanding. You've done an amazing job with the tones and the wonderful textures of the dunes. Your decision to leave a featureless sky really fits the photograph.

One of the difficulties of commenting on a perfect image is that I'm left without any ideas for suggestions. Smiles...

Well done!

Thanks Pete for your kind words

I have been working for the last several years on black and white processing. I credit St Louis' Jack Curran for inspiration. He was a great teacher and got me moving into BW landscape renderings. Sadly Jack passed away last summer so I am doing the best I can.

Emil, I find this image to be fantastic. I love the tangled driftwood in the foreground and the lighted dune tops with beautiful natural textures leading my eye to the top right. I agree with Pete's comment on the featureless sky, however, I probably would of tried inserting some subtle clouds to not disturb the barren scene you have created. An excellent composition.   Posted: 05/04/2021 08:26:38
