Daffodil by Ingrid Lockhart

May 2023 - Daffodil

About the Image(s)

I took this image just outside my front door when the sun was just starting to rise, causing the backlighting that really attracted me. I took this image several years ago, so unfortunately, I do not have the original RAW file anymore.

I like the backlighting of the daffodil. It definitely gives flower a unique look especially the rim lighting on the stem. I wonder if it would help to brighten the flower a little as the stem pulls my interest there.   Posted: 05/01/2023 12:27:28

Thanks, David. I think brightening would be an improvement! Ingrid   Posted: 05/25/2023 17:06:13

Ingrid, very strange that my prior written comments are not here. I really like the stem edging, as the bright lines are really cool. Colors are great and your framing is compelling. I like the water droplets. A stroke to frame it since it is a black background would help.

Thanks, Randall. A stroke might help for social media posting, but unfortunately, such an enhancement would disqualify the image from my Camera Club Flora category.... Ingrid   Posted: 05/25/2023 17:07:28

Ingrid, Love this image. The image really pops with the black background. I do have a Visual Feedback. I gave the image a little more room and brighten the image. Good Job.   Posted: 05/06/2023 21:12:41

As with most black backgrounds it blends into obscurity without a border... Not one that overpowers the flower, but one that defines it. I love borders on all of my images, but, I know that not everyone likes them.... Good color and love the water drops...   Posted: 05/14/2023 16:17:26

thanks, Shirley. Unfortunately, adding a border would disqualify the image from my Camera Club's Flora category, but I can see why it would be an improvement for social media posting. Ingrid   Posted: 05/25/2023 17:09:14

I agree with Shirley regarding the frame. Adding even a faint stroke closes the image into a smaller space and concentrates the eye on the subject. I too like the backlighting. Good capture.   Posted: 05/14/2023 16:30:08

Thanks, Marti. The border issue is always an interesting consideration. I tend to avoid them because of Camera Club rules and the fact that there would be a border of a matte, if framed. But I think it would help for the purpose of social media posting. Ingrid   Posted: 05/25/2023 17:10:58
