About the Image(s)
Sony RX10iv, 24 - 600 mm , F 2.4 - 4.0 lens. I shot a series of sunset shots in the bay by Rockport, Tx in April, 2022, and this is one of them. I shot it F 3.5, Exp 1/200, and pattern metering. It was a challenge with the low light. This is the full photo, and any cropping recommendations are appreciated, as I know there is a lot of grass in the forefront. Any way to make it more competitive in a contest?

Hi Rita. I like this quite a lot. Great job with exposure. Focus works all the way around. Colors are killer!
You mention the grass in the foreground, but I dig it. I'm not as big a fan of the bridge, but that's the way it was. What division do you think you'd enter this in?   Posted: 05/08/2023 18:56:48

The sun setting on the bridge is the whole photo. Do you think the grass needs to be lightened? Entry in Texas State Fair SKIES category.   Posted: 05/08/2023 19:40:12
Hey, if that's your statement then so be it. What do I know anyway?
And, I like the grass the way it is personally. It's not clipped, as far as I can see, and so has some detail. But, it doesn't detract from where my eye goes, which is to the sun. In fact, the meandering line of the edge of the grass gets me to the sun, which was the way I perceived the composition. But, I'm a simple guy that way and gravitate toward simple, somewhat brutal compositions. Just my thoughts...   Posted: 05/14/2023 15:34:01

Hey Rita, You can never go wrong with the golden hour. Fantastic image - the color is great - I'm not bothered by the grass at all. Great Job!   Posted: 05/12/2023 18:12:33

Rita,
Nice image. I don't see a better crop. I think the grass provides a visual line which leads up to the water, bridge, and sunset. Works well.   Posted: 05/14/2023 12:46:33
