About the Image(s)

Title: Water Sprayer

The photo shows the PZL 106 Kruk (flying tractor) agricultural aircraft at the Berlin Air Show. The Polish-built aircraft was used in the GDR for spraying crop protection agents on collective farms. The aircraft is very robust and has very good low-speed flying characteristics. The only model still registered in Germany is used at Air shows for demonstration purposes, but here only water is sprayed. For better understanding I have attached another photo of the flyby.

Shot with EOS 5 D MKIII and 2,8/70-200mm L IS II + Extender 2x III
Focal length 280 mm, f8,0, 1/800 sec. ISO 200

Hans, the aircraft is showing its spray action at full power. I have seen this type of flying machines in the Palouse region of Washington State, where they do do spraying for the wheat and canola farmers. In fact; I will show one image next month. I like the original image as well. They both were shot with shigh shuter speed therefore the propellers are frozen in air. I like the images were you can see some blur on them. The colors are nice and the spray matches the clouds.   Posted: 11/04/2023 16:10:18

Hi Hans. A well captured photo of a working plane doing its job. I like photo 1 with the strong yellow colour of the plane drawing away from its white spray. Photo 2 a different style but showing the plane in classic side view position. A fine photo with great contrasting colours. A front on view of the plane from below may have improved the photo as the propeller and undercarriage may have shown more of the plane and it's purpose.

Hans, The angle of the plane, the spray, the nice colors and the clouds all combine to make a fine image. I also like the original image, it seems to be a little sharper. Like Isaac, I have also seen this type of plane working in the wheat fields of the Palouse region where I live in Washington state.Bruce   Posted: 11/08/2023 02:54:29

I like the color, color combination, and composition. Nice shot. I wondered if the image would be a little more dynamic if it were cropped to vertical. So I tried it, and I flipped the image as well so that the spray leads in from the lower left up to the plane.   Posted: 11/28/2023 19:59:03

I also liked your original. To give the image a little more interest I tilted the plane to make it more diagonal and then cropped as shown.   Posted: 11/28/2023 20:02:15
