Hi Bruce. Another fine soccer shot caught when the players kicked simultaneously at the ball and even the girl to the right is involved as she is urging her team mate on.
What I find different about the photo is that you have used 1/640 FPS this has given you a movement blur on the red players foot but the rest of her body is sharp and clear. A judge at a local club comp said often sports photogs just freeze the action with fast shutter speeds as I have with Steep Climb 1/3200 FPS, your photo shows you are prepared to step out of the norm and try for something different. This difference is often what you need just to go past round 1 elimination in competition photography.   Posted: 11/02/2023 20:20:00

Hey Ronald, sorry to say that the slower shutter speed was just a mistake on my part and not something to be creative. I normally try to stay at least1/1000. Thanks anyway but can not take any credit for being creative. Bruce   Posted: 11/07/2023 20:31:44
Bruce, as Ronald said, another soccer great image. The color contrast between the players adds interest to the image. My guess is that this is the full frame since both red players have amputated arms, unless, there was distracting elements next to them. My take were I judging this, I see the slight blurred feet as a bonus. The reality is, every judge has its own prejudices.   Posted: 11/04/2023 11:27:04
Isaac, I am pretty sure that this was full frame so cropping would not be practical. For me the most important thing in sports photography is the story that is told, for instance the look on the players, even the official and the action of the kick both add to the interest of the image. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to photograph high level soccer from professional down to 8/9 year olds who have signed contracts with some of the best teams around the world. Hi Bruce, congratulations on this beautiful soccer photo. Even though you unconsciously set the shutter speed to 1/640 sec., the motion blur of the right foot of the girl in the red jersey gives the photo a special touch.   Posted: 11/19/2023 03:54:23
The appeal for me is the expression on the faces, and, of course, the great action. The referee in the background adds to the story. If this is full frame, you can't do anything about cutting off the arms.   Posted: 11/28/2023 15:38:43
