Gloria, good action shot but the background is so dark and busy that obscures the presence of the skaters which are wearing dark outfits which makes it more difficult to separate them from the background. Perhaps you should have placed in the other side of the metal fence and closer to the skaters, however; not always possible. The girl with the pink outfit touching the frame, creates some tension, as is the standing man in the opposite side. Or perhaps the just balance each other. The fence undoubtedly is distracting.   Posted: 09/14/2021 21:57:41

Isaac, thanks for your comments; here are my thoughts when processing the image. After doing my global adjustments in Lightroom, the little girl was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. Her placement at the very edge of the frame balances the visual weight of the group of the three men. She is also very "different" from the other group yet holds the image together because she is watching the main event. I thought about the fence- and decided to retain it because of the horizonal and vertical lines and it also adds a light, transparent foreground to the image. The graffiti theme repeats on the wire fence in the background and so the eyes travel to the middle ground and then to the background. The "skater" hold our attention because of his dynamic pose and all eyes are fixed on him.   Posted: 09/17/2021 06:04:12

An interesting place to take pictures, I also did it myself. The photo appears a bit confusing, because of the composition, characters on the far edge of the photo and the colorful decor. Maybe do some searching to cut out different parts of the photo to achieve a more balanced picture.   Posted: 09/15/2021 10:37:06

Lots of color, action, angles, and lines with the tattooed skateboarder matching the skateboard park. The girl in red with a lollipop (?) is an interesting spectator. In my imagination, the skateboarder took his little girl to the park to watch the action and gave her treat. On the flip side of this, I think the overall image is too busy. There does not appear to be a single focal point and the viewer has to really study the image to see what is occurring. Ideally, there would have been a skater in all white, red or yellow to make the image 'pop'. Unfortunately, in real life that seldom happens. B   Posted: 09/15/2021 12:27:59

Gloria, I often wish to do a photo shoot of skate board parks for there is a lot of action opportunities. I echo the before mentioned comments regarding colorful, distracting, etc. an interesting crop might be upper left with skater and two observers.   Posted: 09/16/2021 09:05:32

Gloria, I see you have given this image a lot of thought and I can see where the story line has great interest. In my view, the background is far too busy to to allow a photographer to capture an appreciative image. Perhaps your best bet is to try another angle and get low to the ground.   Posted: 09/20/2021 09:20:00
