About the Image(s)
"We planted some new Asiactic lilies last fall and I captured this photo right after a brief rain. Taken with my Sony a6500, Tamron 17-70mm lens at f8, ISO 200, 1/640 sec. Processed in ON1 RAW 2023. I liked this shot because I was finally able to get the stamens and pistils in focus. The background and top of the photo were too busy so I added some blur and vignette, and had to crop it down to eliminate the clutter just behind the top leaf. But I like that it puts the attention on the center features of the bloom. I sharpened the flower and bumped up the vibrance a little."

You really have wonderful focus on this flower. Everything is tack sharp. I find this very hard to do. Technically very well done. I find the composition a little awkward for my taste. I don't think you need the petal to the right which pulls my eye away from the stamens and pistils. After cropping it, I took it into Camera Raw and using Color Mixer, reduced the luminence of green significantly and added a vignette. I thought it left no doubt of what you wanted me to focus on.   Posted: 05/08/2023 11:29:36
You accomplished exactly what you were trying to do -- they are super sharp and the flower petals are blurred enough not to distract from the stamens and pistils. I do like Cindy's crop and editing.   Posted: 05/13/2023 16:26:23
I agree with Cindy's crop as well. Since you have it cropped from the top already, I would crop it off on the side. You could also punch up the saturation a bit. Very nice, in-focus image.   Posted: 05/23/2023 09:11:16
Thanks folks. I see what you mean, Cindy, esp. toning down those greens   Posted: 05/27/2023 16:40:28
I like the interesting angle of the subject and angle of light from above causing highlights and shadows. Many details come out the closer you look. This flower has the golden ratio written all over it.   Posted: 05/29/2023 21:51:22
