Lighter Yellow Lilies by Marcela Stegemueller

October 2021 - Lighter Yellow Lilies

About the Image(s)

These flowers were growing under the eaves of my neighbor's house. There was a ray of sunlight lighting up the flowers so I took the picture from my fence using the fence to hold my 200 mm lens steady. The flowers are lilies and they appear to be growing wild.

My settings were 160 shutter speed @ 6.3 aperture and ISO 100.

I used the basic adjustments in PS, and made an exposure adjustment to lighten the yellow flowers and background.

Very nice image. I like your composition and the bright color you captured on the flowers. The background is little dark, but I at the moment it does contrast well with the bright flowers. So, I am not sure what would happen if you lightened it up. It may not make as big an impact .   Posted: 10/11/2021 12:30:07

What an intricate design these petals make! I love the diagonal line of the stem and flower, as well as the rich colors and composition. The background is nicely blurred. If I were to suggest anything, it would be to clone out the bright green stem protruding in on the bottom right and maybe the vertical brighter green line on the far right.   Posted: 10/11/2021 21:23:07
