Queen Ann's Lace Bud by Cindy Lynch

September 2021 - Queen Ann's Lace Bud

About the Image(s)

I didn't have my macro lens with me, so I took this with my 16-300 lens. it was against a dark green foliage background and I darkened it more to make the bud stand out. Settings: f/6.3. ISO 100, 1/160 sec nad 300 mm focal length.

A great choice for a closeup. So many details, flowers within a flower. I wonder what an extension tube would do for you? The colors of the background compliment the subject holding the attention there plus the white of the flower adds to the staying power. I also like the slight hint of the vine in the background which gives it support so it doesn't look like the flower is floating in air somehow.   Posted: 09/08/2021 09:17:12

Beautiful shot, Cindy. I agree with Andrew. The white against the green make a nice stand out contrast. And the circular path of the white flowers really draws my attention. Your presentation with the rule of thirds works well for this image.   Posted: 09/12/2021 10:25:55

Great subject! I agree with Andrew & Bob as well. I think the way the bud is growing is what really makes it interesting. The way the flower curves around. I like your darkened background as well. At first I thought crop it to a square and focus on the bud, but with further contemplation, I would leave it.   Posted: 09/14/2021 07:52:45
