Giraffe by Gerhard Geldenhuys

May 2022 - Giraffe

About the Image(s)

My submission this month is from a giraffe photo, original not included, that have been coloured painted by me. The colourful painting idea comes from “Pinterest” and having seen artists work in art exhibitions. I decided to do my own and this is the result with a lot of work and fun.

A giraffe of a different color - I love it!! How did you "paint" this? With a traditional brush, with colors added? And then a texture layer over all of it? No matter how this was completed, it is definitely successful. I love your choice of colors, too. I can tell that this was so much fun to paint. Great job.   Posted: 05/14/2022 18:04:51

Love this modern art of your giraffe. I tried this on a face and loved doing it, but your choice of a giraffe is so much more creative. Love your choice of strong colors and mixing in the yellow-lime green here and there was a great idea. Yellow-lime green color simply shouts look at me. Your art offers so much eye-candy and fun. Congratulations on a very creative piece. Did you use a mixer brush?   Posted: 05/15/2022 13:12:40

Thank you so much for the positive comments. I did this from an original Giraffe photo I took. I used the original paint brush and chose the colours as I went along and played painting as desired.   Posted: 05/21/2022 03:35:58

Another "FUN" image! This would be wonderful in adorning a child's bedroom or over a study desk. Brings out a more creative and jovial side of you Gerhard than I knew before! For me, the eyes and eye lashes "speak" to me and so that's a very touch to have that detail there. And you choice of background was well chosen too.   Posted: 05/22/2022 11:34:55
