About the Image(s)

I am working on still life with flowers from my garden. In the first one I show my set up and the second original shows the inclusion of a complementary background with a purple color to complement the yellow roses. I then used a tint of brown to give it a darker tone. The image was hand painted using the mixer brush.

I love this painting and I wouldn't change one thing. It must have taken you quite a bit of time to paint all the details of those flowers-your brush strokes are wonderful. The portions of this painting that I love the most are: the lighting on the base of the vase, the darker brown tonalities and MOSTLY those wonderful reflections of the subjects onto the table. I am so glad that you kept those in and did not paint the table in flat tones. Great, great image.   Posted: 07/12/2021 10:13:07

Both the final and Original 2 look fabulous to my eye and appeal to two different audiences. The final reminds me more of the Master paintings, which often made me feel that they didn't appreciate brightness and light in their homes! Kudos on both pieces!   Posted: 07/19/2021 17:35:23

I echo the comment Trey brought out: that is looks reminiscent of the works of the old Masters. You did a perfect job with your golds and brown tones.   Posted: 07/21/2021 19:00:35

Ah so lovely.
Excellent use of the fill to illuminate the bottom of the vase.   Posted: 07/21/2021 23:06:00
