About the Image(s)

Taken on a recent holiday to Tasmania, Dove lake is at Cradle Mountain. The rain was bucketing down all day and it was freezing (snows in the winter). We grabbed a small window of opportunity to get some images in between the rain, making it back to the bus as it started, yet again, to pore down. The trip was well worth it, I love this image.

Taken with my Nikon D850. F11, ISO160, 8 sec with a 10 stop filter. Edited in lightroom and a gradient map added in photoshop.

The softness of the surrounding image and the dark/cloudy sky compliment the sharpness of the hut. The rock out front leads my eyes to the hut. Well done on a challenging day! I looked up Tasmania and it sounds like a very beautiful place.   Posted: 06/14/2021 18:13:51

Looks like a beautiful place. My eye keeps getting drawn to that bright spot on the mountain. I know you were dodging rain so hard to get perfect lighting. You mentioned a gradient map in the editing. Where did you apply, wonder if you need a second one to bring out a bit more detail in building perhaps?   Posted: 06/20/2021 09:29:16

I like the soft blues and purples but wondered if pulling out some of the shadows and decreasing the highlights and whites would be a plus. Here's the result for your thoughts.   Posted: 06/25/2021 06:12:33
