About the Image(s)

I saw the sticker of the steampunk fish on a wall and took a picture of it, wanting to turn it into something more than just a picture of someone else's art. It took quite a few tries to figure out exactly how.
I started with the gears as my background layer. I selected the fish and driver and placed that in a layer above that. I made a stamp copy, put it in Difference mode, and moved it slightly to give the embossed effect. I added the texture layer in Hard Mix mode at 59% fill, and then again in Color mode at 59%. The driver's face was dark and indistinct, so I added a new face from a 4th original. I adjusted brightness and exposure selectively. I finally figured out the composition was too centered, so I expanded the canvas up and to the left, and extended the background by cloning.

Peggy, What an interesting picture. I like how you've added textures and color. I have no additional suggestions.   Posted: 08/09/2022 13:45:32

Hi Peggy, I really like your image. I find that you have put all together in a magistral way. I never use the fill slide when I apply textures, it could be something to me to explore.Well done!   Posted: 08/11/2022 20:04:45

Hi Peggy! I love the way you have built an underwater-like world with the light filtering on the wall in the rich hues of turquoise and orange, and the structures and shadows that give it the depth. The transport is most intriguing, and I think that the expression on the new face is perfect: I can hear him tell that this is the way to go!   Posted: 08/12/2022 01:19:32

I just started watching the reruns of 'Game of Thrones'. Your image could fit into one of the stories. To me the strong colors make the image scary. Well done.   Posted: 08/13/2022 11:56:44

I'm not sure I totally understand your explanation. I'll have to follow it while I'm in Photoshop. I don't get the Game of Thrones reference, either. I never watched it. However, this is a very successful image. The colors, the blending, the man driving the fish, and the expression on the fish's face work together well to make the image work. I only have 1 question. Did you mean to give the fish udders?   Posted: 08/16/2022 09:31:41

Thanks, Alan!
I didn't perceive the fish's gear as udders, but I can understand how someone could view it as such, especially if you're not very familiar with steampunk. Still, it works for me.
Thanks for the insight.   Posted: 08/17/2022 07:40:32
