About the Image(s)

The idea to create an image this month was not quite coming and that is why I have started several that I ended up abandoning them.
When I found this photo of the New Zealand meadows, I felt more confident that it could create something nice.
I started with this image as an initial layer, after I placed the house that I extracted from a photograph of a trip to Scotland, the sheep also from NZ, a dead tree from Sydney rural area and the old van that I already used last month and that I thought could be a good addition to the whole.
To join everything together I have applied a layer of average blur and another layer of desaturation. After that I applied several textures using soft light as a blending mode and playing with opacity until I got a result that I liked.

Some contrast, vignetting and the birds in the sky have been the last touch in the image

This is a beautiful image, Maria!
It has a soft, painterly feeling to me. Everything seems to belong in this image. I really love the colors and what you've done with the textures. I think the birds flying across the sky, mimicking the shape of the land below, was a masterly touch.

I feel as if the tree is crowding the house a bit. I personally would consider moving it the right just a little bit.   Posted: 11/10/2021 15:35:48

Many thanks Peggy for your comments, I place the tree there because I didn't want that the image to be perfect sometimes a degree of imperfection makes the image more realistic. I really appreciate all your suggestions and I will take them into account for future projects. Have a nice day   Posted: 11/20/2021 17:31:55

I agree, having the tree there adds to the realism. I think it also gives a dynamic sort of balance, which makes it more interesting.   Posted: 11/23/2021 15:24:44

All of the parts fit together to create a peaceful, idyllic scene. The dog, the shed, the rusty truck, and the tree are placed in a way that balances everything. The viewer can tell that you really enjoyed putting the pieces of this puzzle together. Everything works so well!   Posted: 11/12/2021 08:28:36

Wonderful! The soft colors of sky and grass makes it look like a painting. I would not include the lamb. It takes the viewers
eye from the main subject - the house. I would also make the car smaller, move it closer to the house and cut some of the left side of the image.   Posted: 11/12/2021 13:32:20

Hi Maria: This is wonderful! The colors and texture work together beautifully to create a peaceful pastoral scene.

The sheep, poles and outhouses are a bit distracting I think. You might want to try a simpler composition with just three main elements - truck, house and tree. But with the tree moved to separate it from the house. The birds in the sky are brilliant as Peggy said - they give life to the whole sky!   Posted: 11/13/2021 13:35:35

Many thanks Peter, I appreciate all your suggestions made me look the image in a different way. I will take your advice for future compositions to made them more simple. Have a nice day.   Posted: 11/20/2021 17:37:37

Maria, I love this image. It has a very soothing feeling and evokes a powerful nostalgic feel. It is a successful piece as is. If it were my image I might try a different handling of the sheep in another rendition with a close up of the sheeps face in the bottom left such that the image is a portrait of the sheep with its setting in the background, a little like the Mona Lisa.   Posted: 11/14/2021 11:42:35

Great suggestions that can bear fruit another beautiful image and who knows may be the idea that leads to the creation of a series of pastoral images. Have a nice day Brad   Posted: 11/20/2021 17:41:26

Maria,
I love the mood, the texture and the wonderful lighting you've applied to this image.
I agree with the others that simpler is better and that taking a few elements out will make it more impactful.
You have lots of suggestions but this is your vision so whatever you do with it will only enhance an already lovely scene.   Posted: 11/19/2021 16:36:47

Many thanks Kathy for your lovely comment, different visions that enrich and give me other fantastic ideas. It has always been said that "two heads think more than one" and this case the group enriches individual visions. Have a nice day   Posted: 11/20/2021 17:46:37
