About the Image(s)

I am using my favorite models again “ my grandchildren. The background is Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve near Lancaster CA. Based on some very good comments last month, I made an extra effort to equalize the
sharpness of the cornucopias to blend in with the poppies nearby. Using the blur filter.

You have certainly captured the beauty of Antelope Valley. The orange and green complement each other very well. Here are a couple of more suggestions about creating composites. First, the lighting must be the same or close to it to "sell" the idea that it's one image. Second, the sharpness must match as well. Here, the cornucopias are sharper than the poppies. One characteristic Whistler did not mention in the quote I included in my "About the Image" is perseverance. You certain have no shortage of that.   Posted: 07/04/2021 18:03:36

Aavo, I love California poppies. What better combination than beautiful flowers and adorable grandchildren. You might try playing with adding the kids directly into the flowers if you have any more close up images. I did a few images of my kids inside poppies and they were very popular with the family.   Posted: 07/04/2021 22:10:46

Aavo, Great subject and fun imagination!
I agree with Alan and Brad's comments above. The lighting and sharpness could use more work as it looks a bit cut and paste to me.
One suggestion is to after you cut out your subject in PS, while it's got the marching ants around it, go into Select, Modify, and feather to soften the edges. It'll help to blend the two photos better.   Posted: 07/06/2021 14:06:03

Thank you all for your constructive criticism. I have to work more on equal sharpness for items the same distance from the camera.   Posted: 07/10/2021 15:55:10

Such a fun idea, Aavo! That's a really spectacular field of poppies, and the grandchildren are truly adorable.
I like the way you placed the cornucopias to lead my eye into the field, and then back to those beautiful little faces.
I don't have anything to add to the comments from the others.
You mentioned before that you save each month's comments to help you develop your art. What a great idea!   Posted: 07/14/2021 13:01:50
