About the Image(s)

There is a light art display at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery and I finally got around to seeing it at night. I shot a tight image to use as my background. The brick wall I shot a few years ago, and the girl is my granddaughter. I merged the three images in photoshop, and recolored the background green and then using layers merged the girl and the wall.

Welcome to the Group 54, Tom. In a way, I'm a Michigan man, also as I spent 4 years at the University of Michigan (half a century ago). You have blended/merged the images so well that your composite does not look like a composite. The green letters work better that the orange ones and even miraculously reflect on the letters on the right. I can't really see the brick wall without carefully looking, but the image works very well anyway. I'm just sorry you couldn't use your granddaughter's beautiful red hair.   Posted: 07/04/2021 18:17:20

Thanks Alan. I graduated from Oakland University, but spent a few weekends at A-squared visiting friends and my sister worked there and her sons are U of M graduates. Fun times back in the early 70's.   Posted: 07/08/2021 13:10:49

The Matrix meets Lawnmower man meets Pink Floyd. Nicely done. If my wife were shown this image she would say something like "why did you do that to this pretty girl?". My images often take on dark themes, so you are safe to explore here. It would be nice, but technically not possible with the image you are working with, to have the words add to the story more.   Posted: 07/04/2021 22:18:39

Thanks Brad. I would like to do just that, but really haven't come up with a good idea that would work.   Posted: 07/08/2021 13:11:58

I read this image as the woman is having a confusing dream
or she is afraid to open her eyes. I wish the words on the wall would give us a hint. The green color makes it more mysterious.
The composition is well done.   Posted: 07/06/2021 13:42:04

Thanks Aavo,
Thanks for the dream imagery. I'll have to think if I can somehow get a better story.   Posted: 07/08/2021 13:13:50

Great composite Tom! I'd love to hear more of the story, if there is one.   Posted: 07/06/2021 14:07:54

Hi Kathy,
What comes first, lyrics or music? In this case, it was the image, then the story.   Posted: 07/08/2021 13:15:39

Such a great image, Tom! And a great title as well.

I think the green works very well, giving an eerie edge to the mystery of the words. I really like how the brick wall texture sort of mimics the words and integrates her into the text.

Could you tell me what blending modes you used? The result is very effective, and I always love to learn from other people.

This is really an impressive image. Well done!   Posted: 07/14/2021 13:57:56

Hi Peggy,
Thanks. The green is from a solid green layer with color blend mode. The bricks are soft light. The face is pin light.
Cheers.   Posted: 07/14/2021 14:13:29
