About the Image(s)

I shot this image in April 2022 with my Canon Power Shot SX10IS when I visited the east side of the Oregon Cascades. The image is of a still operational ski lift on April 27th. Minimal editing and cropping done with Elements.

I really like the composition of this image. The lifts form a great leading line that draws the eye through the image.

There were a few minor distractions around the image which I removed in my redo. I also increased contrast, reduced brightness, and added clarity to bring out more detail and textures. Thoughts?   Posted: 05/24/2022 12:20:43

Like Tom I took out some distracting elements. I converted it to mono in Nik Siver Efx Pro using the Full Dynamic (Harsh) filter and Cyanotype 11 tone   Posted: 05/24/2022 13:29:11

That really brings out detail in the trees. Nice! d:¬{D   Posted: 05/24/2022 13:53:20

I really like the graphics of this. I cropped it even more and converted to monochrome using high contrast to accentuate the lines.   Posted: 05/24/2022 16:11:14

Hmmm . . . While the high contrast turns this into a high key image, I think it eradicates too much detail. I also feel you cropped in too tight on the left, cutting off some of the lifts.   Posted: 05/24/2022 17:16:33

I like Tom and Brenda's versions. When I posted, I wondered if anyone would remove the distractions that I kept in. I thought that the three grooming features were part of the story that showed that the lift was operational this late in the season. The purist in me agrees with taking them out.   Posted: 05/25/2022 14:31:03

Oops, error on my part. My comment should read "I like Miriam's and Tom's versions".   Posted: 05/27/2022 15:16:27

I like the ones from Tom and Miriam, with the leading line up to the mountain and still goes on.   Posted: 05/25/2022 23:15:45

Brrr! Hard to believe one would be skiing so late in the season. I'm finding the image to be well composed with lines of the tows taking my eye through the image comfortably, and the two blocks of dark trees adding a lovely contrast to the snow. I'm wondering if we could expose the snow to become more white and bring out more detail in the trees.   Posted: 05/27/2022 10:22:15

Miriam, I like your version too. It is hard to believe this images was taken on 4/23/22!   Posted: 05/27/2022 15:19:37
