About the Image(s)

The Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico hosts tens of thousands of sandhill cranes and snow geese each winter. Many, many photographers line the ponds at sunrise and sunset, waiting for takeoffs and landings. This is one of my favorite images from our trip, showcasing the gracefulness of a crane against a background of snow geese.

Composition is great as is the depth of field to isolate the subject. It's just a bit soft and noisy for me   Posted: 05/24/2022 14:01:47

Another way cool image from you. I especially appreciate that you didn't convert this to monochrome as the colors are more effective.

I did find that there was a lot of noise, so I ran it through Topaz Denoise AI and removed a couple of distractions in the water. Thoughts?   Posted: 05/24/2022 14:11:12

That's MUCH better...thanks! I always forget about dealing with the noise.   Posted: 05/24/2022 15:47:20

Beyond Miriam's comment, I think the background needs to be softened more to focus on the bird. Comments?

Tom's noise reduction and removal of distractions are spot on. Agree with him on keeping the color.   Posted: 05/25/2022 14:16:01
