Grape Ivy by Arabella Dane

January 2022 - Grape Ivy

About the Image(s)

Silly me. We went to Plum Is, MA and this was growing all over the trees. I thought I was looking at wild grapes and fell in love with the red stems, and slate-colored fruits...got home and realized that these are just grape ivy, which grows all over our barn and sometimes produces fruit! Canon r5 mirrorless wide-angle lens.

Great contrast of red and blue-gray, as well as the sharp cluster in the foreground and the blurry ones behind. Whether wild grapes or grape ivy, it's a wonderful image.   Posted: 01/17/2022 11:55:18

Very interesting subject, Arabella! Quite a departure, actually. You have captured a very interesting cluster of fruit, whatever they may be.

I found the branch in the lower-left corner a distraction, and it would be better if the background was a little softer to help pop the subject. I took the image into Affinity Photo and attempted to demonstrate my suggestions. Thoughts?   Posted: 01/17/2022 12:25:00
