November 2021 - Smoky Mountains

About the Image(s)

I am currently in Gatlinburg on a photography workshop. We have been dealing with a lot of rain for the last two days. I took this image this afternoon on our way back to the hotel. Mostly processed in the native Apple app and a little in Snapseed.

A neat Smoky Mountains scene. The rain makes the colors stand out, and the low clouds/fog often cover the top of the mountains. Wonderful photo.   Posted: 11/07/2021 14:20:30

Hope your workshop went well. The image looks like it was wet there. Lots of vegetation on those sharp-edged hills. What a great view. The clouds highlight the hills and increase the sense of dampness. Nice colors. Nice shot.

Looking at this image it is hard to imagine what Gatlinburg itself looks like. A lovely illustration of why they are called the smokey mountains. Nice job.   Posted: 11/08/2021 15:56:54

The Smokies living up to their name. Was this the Hank Erdman trip? I had friend there with Hank, but that was a week ago. Rainy days makes for good light and better colors. You locked out.

I heard the the park was over run with thousands of people (photographers). Hope you had a good time.   Posted: 11/08/2021 18:58:23

Gatlinburg was definitely a tourist trap with lots of people. No one wears a mask in Tennessee except me 🥴. We didn't run into any other photography groups. I went with John Gerlach and he knows when and where to go to avoid most people. We were out before sunrise when the tourists were still in bed. Only place that was bumper to bumper cars was Cades Cove and then we couldn't stop at the visitor center area because three black bears were lounging near the parking lot.   Posted: 11/13/2021 09:46:45

Despite the weather, you captured a fine Fall color scene and even some detail in the sky. Rainy days can bring out color and this proves it. Super detail throughout.   Posted: 11/13/2021 07:01:47
