Fishing Boat Heating Out to Sea by Lynne Royce

October 2021 - Fishing Boat Heating Out to Sea

About the Image(s)

One advantage of walking the boardwalk at Avon-By-The-Sea, New Jersey, is we get to see the draw bridge go up and down as fishing boats head out and return. Slight processing in Snapseed.

The clouds apparently racing in the same direction as the boat make this a dynamic image. The little bit of key stoning of the control tower and it's flag actually works for me by giving a slight impression of the structure resisting the "escape" of the boat and clouds.   Posted: 10/02/2021 15:08:35

Like your lyrical description Richard of structure resisting the "escape "of the boat and clouds. That makes lemonade out of the lemon of slight keystoning of building.   Posted: 10/04/2021 07:48:16

You sure find interesting thing to shoot in New Jersey. Great colors. I would probably consider getting the flagpole straight. This is not a big problem. Great clouds and love the action in the moving boat.   Posted: 10/03/2021 09:44:22

Nice shot. I like the bow wake that tells the viewer the boat is moving quickly, so there's energy in the image. The bridge runs across the image and visually ties the two sides together. There are foreground, middle, and distant objects to hold the viewer's attention. I agree with Jerry that it might be good to do a little straightening. It may just be a personal preference for me, but the black cloud bottoms don't look completely natural.

I asked Dave to post my original to show that clouds dark at the bottom which the HDR Scape section of Snapseed accentuated. Thanks for your observation that boat's wake gives the image energy. The fishing boats zip into view very quickly cause know holding up traffic cause of raised drawbridge.   Posted: 10/04/2021 07:57:48

Excellent sharpness. All the various pieces to this image (boat, water, bridge, etc.) work nicely together to provide one with a story.   Posted: 10/07/2021 11:45:21

Very nice action and environmental image. There is so much to taken in in this image and you captured it just right. I like your post processing, it almost makes the image look like a drawing. Great clouds really add to the image. It looks like a storm is brewing. Nicely done.   Posted: 10/08/2021 16:15:06

I like the story being told here...bridge up with boat having just passed under. The original seemed darker so the processing was helpful.Good example of the many things our little "toy" can do!   Posted: 10/10/2021 18:19:26
