About the Image(s)

I imagine we all have taken this picture, or something close to it, many times. Still, I was unable to walk past it and decided to try to make something better than what the original was. So playing around in the Grunge filter part of Snapseed, and then further adjusting Details I ended up with this. The vignette was added at the end and it seems to have helped simplify the rather busy original and bring the eye to the main subject.

You are right, we have probably all done some version of this scene and found our effort trite. Your treatment really is different. The increased saturation of the buoys and vignette give the image a glow that really works.   Posted: 09/03/2021 08:08:38

Very creative Sol. You made a snapshot into a great shot. You did not mention the nice creative frame which also added to the interest.

I an so glad to be in this group. your sharing and being honest about your concerns is wonderful. I also continue to question what I am doing because we have so many creative choices.

I really did a crazy thing with this month's image. I tried taking the Farm scene that I submitted and turning it into a night time black and white image? You can find it on Group 39. Jerry   Posted: 09/03/2021 08:13:55

Thanks, Jerry. Your shot on Gp. 39 has a real spooky feeling. While the house is a tiny part of the image, the eye goes right to it so I think it's pretty effective.   Posted: 09/03/2021 13:12:04

Nicely done. Again Sol, you see a photo, take the photo, and then your creative skills go to work!   Posted: 09/06/2021 12:34:35

I can't pass these up either Sol. I love wandering around a fishing town/marina looking for things to photograph. I like your crop and the effect you added as well as the frame. You did a good job putting the focus on the floats. Well done.   Posted: 09/06/2021 17:30:23

I like your treatment of the scene. It adds a "mossy" look to the items, suggesting they've been in the water. The bumpers have nice colors, so that makes for a nice image. The vignette was a good idea, too.

The vignette and frame both add to impact of this photograph of battered buoys. Thick, gnarly rope a good contrast and interesting texture.   Posted: 09/14/2021 08:02:01
