Clouds and Rays of Sunrise - How I Did It by Sol Blechman

October 2024 - Clouds and Rays of Sunrise - How I Did It

About the Image(s)

While I'm not usually compelled to shoot sunsets or sunrises because I feel I can't add much to what is already obviously there, this one did grab my attention. Most of the work was in retouch to darken the foreground which had several houses showing and a general brightness that distracted from the clouds. Some usual touch up in Snapseed of course.

What a sky! This would be great on your wall and also make a great jigsaw puzzle. You did a great job with the houses and silo. Choosing to keep the foreground small and include mostly clouds works beautifully. There is a very faint bright line outlining the mountain on the left. Is this natural or an artifact? It is not bothersome, but it does catch my eye.   Posted: 10/02/2024 18:36:31

Richard, I don't recall doing anything to those clouds, and I'm having trouble seeing in on my screen. Maybe it's from a backlighting from the sun?   Posted: 10/03/2024 12:42:00

Nice capture and editing Sol. So glad that yuou took out the houses and let it be a total Nature and Sunset. It is a WOW! Those "God Rays" coming out from the Sun are traffic. Thanks for sharing you images and editing skills that you have developed. Jerry   Posted: 10/02/2024 18:47:20

I love the dichotomy between the sun and the menacing clouds. It seems to me that the light is trying to overcome the darkness in a symbolic sense.Really good image!!   Posted: 10/03/2024 04:15:52

What a great sky! The sun rays add interest, and so do the spots of blue sky above. Nice colors. Glad you stopped to capture it. The halo on the peaks most is, most likely, an artifact of the edits. You might want to look through the edit steps and see where it appears.

You were in the right place at the right time. The sun peaking through the clouds, the God beams and those spectacular clouds make up a beautiful serene image. I really don't see any artifact along the mountains and if there is any I don't feel it distracts from the image. Well done and captured. Glad you were out to capture this special moment.   Posted: 10/11/2024 00:00:45
