This was taken at the Mitchell Park Domes in Milwaukee on May 2014. Quite old. However, I liked it and I think it turned out OK, although the back blossoms are not in focus. Comments?

Agree the whole stem needs to be in sharp focus. I feel it would be a more interesting image if the stem is placed at an angle rather than straight vertical. Posted: 11/07/2023 11:02:47

I like the simplicity and the blurred background. I like the diagonal that Chuck suggested. It makes a nice compostiion. I wish that the focus was sharper. Posted: 11/08/2023 10:06:28
Paul, I don't mind your vertical configuration with the stem slightly off centre and the buds at the top included in the frame. The BW works (although I agree I would like to see the focus a bit sharper) but I also really like the soft hues in the background of the colour version - very painterly. Posted: 11/08/2023 21:49:38
Paul, What a lovely image of these blooms on such a long stem. The black and white version needs more contrast in my opinion. The color version works well with the background having those soft varying colors. It doesn't bother me that all the blooms are not in focus. Posted: 11/11/2023 18:41:21
