About the Image(s)

As you know, I love old things with all their textures and shapes. Here is the inside of an abandoned truck outside an auto parts store in Maine. I did most of the post-processing in Camera Raw but then used a Topaz Glow Dream filter at 19% opacity. I included the color version because I can't decide which I liked best. It's a little different angle, too. I cropped in the left side on the monochrome because the slice of sky in the upper left was a little too distracting in black & white. Settings: f/9, 1/15 se., ISO 100, 22 mm focal length.

Cindy, I think I prefer the BW version of this image. In the colour image (although I like it as well), I am drawn first to the flag in the upper right and then to the browny reds on the left of the dashboard, whereas in the monochrome, my eye is encouraged to roam around the frame taking in all the various gritty textures and details. Good call, I think, cropping from the left in the BW as well. Such a great find and beautifully post-processed!   Posted: 08/11/2022 11:52:11

Great find. Love these old cars. So many interesting aspects. Like the seat. I want to see more of the seat in a second picture. And those instruments on the dash. And, the door. You nailed the exposure with both outside and inside detail. Being a cloudy day did help. BW works best as that flag in the color version is dominating. The image tells a story.   Posted: 08/11/2022 16:17:29

Cindy, your love of old things really shows in this image! What a find for a great monochrome image. I prefer the monochrome image because, as others have commented, the flag in the color version is distracting. I think the rust color on the dashboard area is also a bit oversaturated for me. But I really like the blurred effect outside the windows in the color version. The b&w version really highlights the textures and I really like the light on the seat cushion area. Very nice image of an old truck!   Posted: 08/12/2022 18:53:46
