About the Image(s)
Description: I took this image in a CA coastal town of Inverness. This old boat is photographed all the time and this is my second time there. It has deteriorated since my last visit. I thought with the overcast day and the textures, reflections, it would make a nice monochrome image. I used the Nikon D500 with tamron 18-400 lens. I used a preset in silver efex pro to convert to monchrome.

Mary Ann, I really like the monochrome version of this image. It looks as if you worked to bring out lots of detail and texture in the boat, in the foreground and in the intriguing "peek-a-boo" reflection. I would say there is just enough detail in the cloudy sky to make it interesting but not detract from the main subject. A beautifully balanced composition with the boat a little off centre, the sand in the foreground and the hills in the background providing some context. A compelling capture of a great find!   Posted: 08/11/2022 11:37:54

Mono really works best here. You certainly brought out the boat detail well. I like the water reflection. Composition is excellent. Lorna really said it better.   Posted: 08/11/2022 16:07:11

What an awesome find! You did an excellent job capturing it with good details and composition. The reflection in the strip of water adds just the right touch. My only suggestions are to try to add a little clarity or contrast to the sky to make it look a little more threating and try adding a slight vignette. That said, it is still great the way it is!   Posted: 08/17/2022 10:22:46
