About the Image(s)

I really liked the subtle lighting on this dogwood blossom and catching the bee on it was a stroke of luck. Settings: f/5.6, 1/800 sec., ISO 100 and 78-mm focal length.

Cindy, this is a lovely monochrome image of a dogwood blossom. And, the bee just makes it. The depth of field, sharpness of the bee, and the texture of the petals just make this an amazing shot. You have given me something to think about in turning some color flower images into monochrome. Very nice!   Posted: 05/11/2022 15:09:14

Cindy, very nice. Nice DOF to blur background. You may want to remove a couple of the darker vertical twigs/branches to emphasize the flowers top of image. Kind of a halo. Macro lens?   Posted: 05/11/2022 15:54:20

Thank you for your feedback. No, not a macro lens - taken at 75 mm focal length.   Posted: 05/14/2022 14:34:00

Cindy, you have captured the lighting on this dogwood blossom so beautifully. A lovely image with strong texture and sharpness on the main subject(s) and a softer, increasingly blurred background. To me, the leaf in the upper right works to place the subject in context, however I might (and this is somewhat picky) clone out the short twig above the blossoms - I find it a bit of a distraction. Great shot!   Posted: 05/16/2022 14:46:34
