About the Image(s)

I liked the softness, the peacefulness of the colour version of this, but wanted to experiment with an image that wouldn't generally considered a candidate for BW. I shot this in the gardens of a government mansion in early Spring with my Nikon D750 on a tripod. 1/10 sec at f/11. ISO 100 at 24 mm. Conversion in Lightroom with some dodging and burning to darken the background and lighten the foreground bench.

Lorna, your edits have done a nice job of converting this image to monochrome. The contrast and exposure are well done. I do like the color version as well. Both work! It is a very serene setting and I want to go take a seat on that bench and get lost in garden!   Posted: 05/11/2022 15:41:38

Thank you, Karl. I have to say I am really appreciating what I am learning about BW conversion, being part of this group.   Posted: 05/16/2022 14:03:05

I like this much better in monochrome. The tonal range is very narrow in color, but in black and white, you were able to show more contrast. I like the simplicity and perspective.   Posted: 05/12/2022 19:21:11
