About the Image(s)

I found this relic near a small town marina in our area. It was a cloudy day so the light is a little flat but I think the low contrast light allowed me to better bring out the textures in LR and in Nik Silver Efex Pro. I also took down the exposure a bit to emphasize the grittiness of the metal. Shot with my Nikon D750. 1/250 sec at f/5.6 ISO 640.

I love old, rusty things. The textures, focus and exposure are all good. I like that you took it from the side rather than straight-on because the diagonal lines of the wall add interest. I also like your tight crop. My only suggestion is to significantly darken the top left corner. It is the brightest spot in the image, so it draws my eye up and out of the frame. I think this would also make a great color image. I really like the subtle tones in your original.   Posted: 01/06/2022 07:57:39

For me it is a little contrast-y. That So on the left is an important part. So, I took it into Luminar AI and played around to make the upper left blend in more. A very interesting image.   Posted: 01/06/2022 10:33:55

Lorna, I like all the textures and shapes in this image. I also like the angle in which it was taken as it makes it interesting. My only suggestion is to bring down the brightness a bit.   Posted: 01/11/2022 05:09:32

I like old items, too. I agree with Cindy that taking it on the side gives it nice line to it from the left.   Posted: 01/16/2022 16:33:30
